About
First of all welcome to tboyonline.com, it is the home of me; Ben Palmer. I am a producer and DJ known as Tboy from the North of England. This website is devoted to my podcast show Tboy’s Tea Time, which is available through most of the podcast directories on the web.
The show started off as a collection of some of my mixes but has become a platform for underground DJs and producers to distribute the best underground electronic music through the internet, directly to listeners around the world via the medium of podcasting.
What is podcasting?
Podcasting is pretty simple. It is internet radio, but without the need of an internet connection to listen! Well not entirely cause you have to download them first. So you download episodes through what is called a podcatcher and then you can listen to the via your computer, mp3 player and even write CDs of them.
How do i listen?
There are many different ways to listen, the easiest is by clicking on the Play button on any of the posts on the home page, you can click the Open in New Window link so you can have the mix running in the background.
The other way is to download whats called a podcatcher, this is a program that takes a podcast feed and automatically knows when new shows are available. They can also be set to download the shows automatically. I generally use iTunes and if you have it installed click here to go to my iTunes Music Store listing, from this page you can subscribe.
If you don’t have iTunes, you can see a list of podcatchers from here or by clicking on Podcatchers at the top of the page.
What kind of music do you play?
Interesting question… at first i wanted to make this a show for just UK-based electronic music producers but then i realised that the internet is not about boundaries marked on maps. This lead me to delving into different types of music from around the world.
All the music i play on the show is either for promo purposes or free podsafe music.
What is a Minimix?
My Minimix idea has come from the fact i think i must have ADHD! I cannot concentrate long enough to make a whole song, i get bored. So I started playing around with loops and formed the Minimix.
It is for modern life, we all like to have our fingers in all the pies; interests across the spectrum. Minimixes therefore include all different types of music blended together via mathematical theory.
I can hand on my heart say that I did the minimix before BBC Radio 1 started doing them.
