How to get GTA4 for release day

Games, Xbox 360 No Comments »

I looked at my pre order for GTA4 this morning on Amazon and was confronted by a date 2 weeks after release. So i cancelled it and decided to play my luck.

There are a lot of retailers still taking orders but the following tactics are probably the best way to get your copy of the most eagerley anticipated game in ages:

  1. Buy on release day
This all might be one of those hype up situations where retailers aren’t told numbers, but obviously you need balls of steel to go with this tactic. This may be a risky strategy because of the worldwide release date.
  2. Order the Special Edition
The SE version that comes with a rockstar duffle bag, key ring, security box and art book is still available for release day from some retailers. Only thing is that Game are the only ones saying they will deliver for release day and at £69.99 thats a big investment. Zavvi are selling 360 version for £58 + free delivery.
  3. Order from ‘Mainstream’ Retailer
This is a good tactic my mate used for getting his 360 a week before release date several years ago. Try the guys that no one goes to… Woolworths, Sainsburys, Tesco, PC World, Dixons. They will all be about same price but some might have a copy for release day because all serious gamers generally go for the specialist shops.
  4. Get a Mate ‘Inside’
In true GTA style get on the blower and call in some of those favours you’ve racked up over the years. Employees of retailers will have a better idea of the numbers and may be able to get it you at release date.

Personally i am going to try and get the game through any avenue possible even if that includes pawning my body to elderly females to relive their glory days Being John Malkovich style. Failing that just play COD4 for a couple more weeks…

After purchasing the pre-order of Grand Theft Auto 4 today on Amazon UK (£37.00 good price!). I’ve decided to add a series of the great content from the game.

First Impressions of COD4 Variety Map Pack

Games No Comments »

I got this on friday and over the weekend been playing Team Deathmatch and Team Objective most as just for the weekend you get double XP! That means +20 for each kill on TDM etc.

I am getting used to the maps more, Chinatown is probably my favourite, with Broadcast next and then finally Creek. Creek just seems massive but the more i play it the better it seems, also if you add Extreme Condition perk you can get from one end of map to the other end if you use the connecting cave beneath the hill in the middle.

Chinatown is a good level though with lots of little rooms and towers to shoot from, its interesting seeing where people congregate or camp as a lot of people seem to do at the moment. There are easy kills to be had on these maps as people dont know where they are going but most of the people i have played against are Prestige players.

I really wanted to play Killhouse but on the XBL screen it says that Cage Match and Team Tactical are the only modes available for that! This is very annoying because 1v1 cage matches are so boring, but also you have to seive through all the original maps until you might get to play it. Therefore i havent even played it yet! From what i have seen i think it would be a good for say Free-for-All or even TDM! I hope the developers add it to the roster for VP TDM!

COD4 Multiplayer Map Pack Update

Games No Comments »

Can’t wait for the new maps for Call of Duty 4, they are supposed to be coming out today! Been waiting for a while for them as it is the only game i am playing at the moment! So frustrating yet rewarding at the same time. On the official site though it seems to hint towards a promotion of some sort, check it out yourself at http://gameoftheyear.callofduty.com

There are four new maps, Chinatown, Killhouse, Creek and Broadcast.

I tend to go for the smaller madder ones as i play HQ a lot and love lvling weapons. Shipment is mental for getting over 50 kills on as look as you’re using a closer shooter like an SMG or a shotgun!

** UPDATE **

The website is just for redeeming the map code for the Game of the Year pack in shops. You go there and enter the code in the box and you well get an Xbox Live redeem code for the maps.

Crayon Physics Game

Design, Games, Web No Comments »

Crayon Physics Deluxe is a sequel to the popular freeware game Crayon Physics. Or you can think of it as the game I would have created if I would have had more than 7 days to do it. Way more than 7 days. More like 7 months or 17 months.

Anyway Crayon Physics Deluxe is a 2D physics puzzle game, in which you get to experience what it would be like if your drawings would be magically transformed into real physical objects. Solve puzzles with your artistic vision and creative use of physics.

Here is the release of Saiyan Sans, a Dragonball Z font. I built it after not being able to find a Dragonball Z font anywhere on the web, so from the logo I just kinda tried to follow Akira Toriyama’s style for the other letters.
